One aspect of the movement for #equality is exemplified in this parody video from the EU. The principle of equal reward for performing the same task is valid.
Sure, there are debates about how well the task was performed and that may be reflected in wage variations yet the principle remains – reward based on #gender is not on. Whilst some industries (eg government jobs) often have merit pay systems there are still cases where subtle gender bias influences pay outcomes.
As a former HR executive I know that in practise some employers are unaware they are biased in their reward systems. Many times in discussion about hiring people the inclination was to offer males higher starting rates than females and yet when challenged there was no factual validation for this.
This short video reinforces the idea that if the work is performed, the reward should be the same without consideration of gender.
