Malaysia’s Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said greater efforts are needed to improve inclusiveness and diversity in top management of listed companies.
“We are progressing well on our journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2020. As set out in the New Economic Model, we must not achieve our objective of high income at the expense of inclusiveness and sustainablity,” he said at the Sustainability & Diversity roundtable session in the capital, Wednesday.
These comments are based on survey results from TalentCorp which also pointed out that greater effort was needed to improve diversity at the top management levels (24% female). We commend Malaysia for working towards a democratic agenda in terms of diversity and in encouraging organisations to not only report on their efforts but to make it a priority. This news item is definitely worth a read.
